Supporting Employment for Vermonters with Psychiatric Disabilities

VocRehab helps Vermonters with psychiatric disabilities find and maintain meaningful jobs of their choice using an approach called Supported Employment.

VocRehab offices throughout the state work closely with their local Community Mental Health Centers to offer Supported Employment services. These services are designed to help you find work that meets your career goals and preferences.

Once you obtain a job, an employment specialist will work with you to identify and arrange for the individualized supports needed to maintain your employment. It will be your choice whether or not an employer knows VocRehab is helping you and what supports will be provided. Supported Employment services continue for as long as you are working and find the support helpful.

Researchers have studied different types of programs that help people with psychiatric disabilities find and keep employment. These studies have shown that people who participate in Supported Employment services are much more likely to find and keep employment than those who work with other types of employment programs.
