What are your career goals? At VocRehab, we don’t just want to help you get a job, we want to also help you plan and achieve a satisfying career path. Every job seeker has unique needs, skills and challenges, so we adapt our services to meet those needs, build out skills and address challenges. Services can include assessment, helping you to figure out what you really want to do, talking about your goals and barriers to finding employment, and assistance for purchasing items related to work.
At VocRehab we operate according to four core values which are at the center of everything we do.
Core Value 1: Organizational Effectiveness
Continuous improvement in service delivery through data driven decision-making, constructive strategic planning, and development of new programs.
We hold ourselves to a high standard because we’re committed to giving you the best experience possible. One of the ways we continue to improve is by seeking feedback from you, the consumer, whether in-person or through a survey. Your opinion matters and helps us deliver better services.
Core Value 2: Prepared Job Seekers
Quality programs that comprehensively address matching the needs of employers with the skills of job seekers.
VocRehab Vermont has pioneered the concept of Progressive Employment, a program that gives job seekers the opportunity to “try out” a workplace to see if it’s a good match. While you’re gaining experience and learning new skills, the employer is also benefitting by getting to know a job candidate’s work style before making the hire. It can be a great way for job seekers to test out a new line of work or to gain experience in order to get hired.
Core Value 3: Valued and Empowered Employees
A skilled and dedicated staff who are offered opportunities for professional growth and a healthy and affirming work culture.
Our counselors are encouraged to develop their practice by taking part in regular Motivational Interviewing coaching sessions. Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach that attempts to help an individual move away from ambivalence and toward positive change. Many consumers arriving at VocRehab experience barriers to employment and need support to overcome these obstacles. Through MI, counselors can help these consumers overcome their resistance to change and find lasting solutions that increase employment prospects.
Core Value 4: Collaborative Partnerships
Alliances with a wide variety of organizations to develop comprehensive supports for people with disabilities entering the workforce.
VocRehab partners with the Vermont Association of Business, Industry and Rehabilitation (VABIR) to help individuals find and maintain employment. VABIR acts as a liaison between VocRehab and Vermont’s business community, identifying job opportunities, developing interviewing and resume skills, providing work experiences and more. VocRehab also partners with the state’s Designated Agencies and Specialized Service Agencies to provide vocational services to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health issues and youth with emotional issues.
